Writing Assignment: write about the video projects we did this semester.
Talk about group dynamics, adventures, production events, creating the video, etc.
1 paragraph - Video promo about Korea
1 paragraph - Video promo about Rt. 66
It was a great experience for our team to make a commercial about Korean culture. Our theme was “Korean traditional games”. So, we played many old games in front of Cheong-Woon-Gwan, Kyunghee University. At that time, in addition, making that video was my work. Because it was my first time to make a video, I struggled very much.
And, there was another chance for our team to gather. It was to make a commercial about Kansas and Oklahoma along Route 66. Everyone in our group talked over the theme many times. Finally, we decided our 2nd commercial would be filmed like a live broadcast – What a brilliant idea! While recording each person’s voice and taking the video, we had a unique, fun experience.
Our group created a “DOREMI SONG” about a traditional Korean game. We used a lot of energy from beginning to end. Also, I was both surprised and touched because we made great friendships. The Korea commercial ended in a general burst of laughter because there was such a funny face. I’m glad that this project went like clockwork.
The Rt. 66 commercial will linger long in our memory because we took some hard knocks. Our Rt.66 commercial has the of “doing the news”. Our target was to use an original idea and also have enjoyment. Sometimes, we had differences but we agreed to disagree and stopped fighting. As a result, we made a satisfactory commercial.
* Korean commercial ‘Han Book’
Frankly, until we chose the ‘Han Book’ project, we were very worried about this project. Because there are so many Korean facts we knew about, and we didn’t know where to start. Anyway, we selected this topic and started filming. But, there was one more problem. The problem is that none of us knew video editing. To end our worries, we used ppt to place the titles on the screen.
*Rt.66 commercial ‘
’ We did it! We learned editing skills, and we made our video commercial. But the process was very difficult. We came together three days for more than 5 hours each day. It was so hard work but we were interested in this process. Each member’s idea was different so we could not focus on a topic. However, finally we found a way to agree.
Because our video's contents contains traditional games, we must play these games. It was interesting but these games were played at the university! It looks a little strange. But I think our group enjoyed making this video and these things are meaningful for us, I think.
In the Rt.66 commercial we played like news anchors. So we used the news theme song and repeated it during recording. To have good sound and pronunciation we recorded our voices many times and I think we did well. After recording we took pictures of group as anchors. It was interesting to make this commercial.
Our team made a commercial about Korean traditional games. We had a hard time thinking about how to make our commercial. But our team members actively participated in making the commercial. We made a ‘New Doremi song’ and took a video about Korean traditional games. I think that the lyrics of the ‘New Doremi song’ are very creative. And it was a good choice to make a commercial by flash animation. Our team members became closer to each other while doing this assignment.
Our team made a news show about Route 66. We imitated news anchors. So we tried to pronounce the English words correctly. Our team had a lot of members; more than the other teams. We had difficulty listening to all the members and agreeing on our plan. It was a very exciting experience and deepened the intimacy of our team members.
Our commercial was recorded in a variety of places on our university campus. The Hollywood scenes were was recorded near the Tennis court and the Grand Canyon scene was recorded at the sports climbing area. The Disney Land scene was recorded at Cheongnyang Elementary school and the opening scene was recorded near The Peace Temple. Our project was recorded on Saturday and it was very cold so our outdoor recordings were very hard to do and took a long time (maybe 4~5 hours). Our voices were recorded behind of The Peace Temple. We tried to sing a song using Korean popular songs MR.
Our project was focused on Entertainment. So we tried recording our dancing scenes. We parodied four famous dances in each of our scenes. During those scenes we made many NG-shots (“no good” shots) (especially in our voice recordings) so we laughed many times. We moved many times between each location and we wanted to show many things but time was limited. We missed out doing some of what we wanted to do. This project was hard work but we tried to enjoy it so we could finish our job by having fun. Through doing this project we made more friendly relationships. Maybe we will not forget this time.
